U8-U11 (Sub Junior Miniroos FV)

For these age categories it's all about development. Coaching wise we are looking at the big four; 1v1, running with the ball, striking and first touch. Experience wise we are looking to develop mateship and sportsman like qualities. All players are graded into three levels and no matter what level you are we aim to give you a great experience.

U8-U9 Miniroos

Matches start at varying times during Saturday morning (unless All girls Teams which play on Sunday mornings)

A full 20 fixture schedule is available online. This is provided through Football Victoria. Games are home and away (within our local area). Teams are coached by parent volunteers. The coaches are all vetted and selected by the club and receive on going in house training throughout the season and must have a Working With Children Check. Training times depend on field space and coach availability. Teams usually train once per week, at 5pm or 6pm for 1 hour. The U8 & U9 age category is soft graded. Meaning the competition is split into:

  • Joey (Beginner)
  • Wallaby (Intermediate)
  • Kangaroo (Advanced)

However, the club looks to roll teams over from the previous season with minimal changes. Our grading element is that we try to place new stronger players into vacancies in teams that are estimated to compete at Kangaroo level. Beginners in teams that compete in Joey and intermediates into Wallaby squads. The higher the level, the more commitment and expectations is required from players/parents.

Gold Coin Referees are in house and organised by the club.

Playing formats as follows:

  • 7 v 7
  • goalkeepers
  • 2 x 20 minute halves
  • unlimited interchange
  • size 3 ball

U12's rules have changed from some years ago. In 2018 they played full pitch with 11 v 11, now they play  9 v 9 on a modified pitch. However, like in prior years there will now be an official referee, scores will be recorded, there will be tables, and there will also be red & yellow cards.
