Goal Kick (5-6 yo)

What is Goal Kick?

Our Goal Kick program is perfect for little people (ages 5–6 at the beginning of the program) who are new to club football. It is all about having fun and developing skills. It’s a great program for building the essential skills needed for football in later years.

This program is designed, supervised, and instructed by our coach, Lou Petrou. He views the first years of football skill development as the most important. Learning the right skills early ensures the correct building blocks are in place for more technical training later on.

It is a 18-week program that runs on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM (TBC) for just under an hour each week. Sessions take place at our Edithvale Commons ground, located across the road from our main pavilion, behind the Bowls Club on Edithvale Road.

Training will begin a week or two before the season starts (late March) and runs through to the end of Term 3, with a break during school holidays. The cost of the program covers all training sessions and an end-of-season medal. Chelsea FC uniforms are mandatory and must be purchased separately from the registration fee. It is essential that all participants have boots and shin guards.

The Chelsea FC Goal Kick Program is run under the supervision of coach Lou Petrou, resident Senior Men and Women players, and our group of youth assistant coaches.

U7 (Sub Junior Miniroos FV and U7 BFA)

U7s play their games on a Saturday morning. They play a home and away fixture with the season starting approximately in April. When playing at home, they play their first game at 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM. When playing away, the time may vary, but it will always be reasonably early.

Training will be one night a week (yet to be determined) and will normally start around 5:00–5:30 PM. Training will begin a week or two before the season starts (late March). These sessions will be led by one of our Coaching team. We believe these are essential years for skill development, and all U7s train as a group.

Football Victoria Teams

Games for U7s are played on a modified pitch with small goals. The format is 5v5, and teams ideally consist of 6–7 players. Matches are 2 x 10-minute halves.

Bayside FA Teams

Games for U7s are played on a larger pitch with a 7v7 format. Matches consist of 4 x 10-minute quarters.

Parents are encouraged to take on the roles of Coach or Team Leader to organize match day activities. Each team will also require a Team Manager to assist with communications and rosters for volunteer duties on match day.

U8-U11 (Sub Junior Miniroos FV)

For these age categories, it's all about development. Coaching focuses on the big four: 1v1, running with the ball, striking, and first touch. Experience-wise, we aim to foster mateship and sportsmanlike qualities. All players are graded into three levels, ensuring a great experience for everyone.

U12-18 (Junior FV)

The youth teams form an important bridge from the juniors to the seniors. Our more advanced team options put players on a pathway to the men's squad. Our more social youth teams are run to give players in our community the opportunity to fall in love with the sport and make friends.

We run a maximum of two teams per age group; therefore, tryouts are sometimes required to make the advanced teams (teams entered into Football Victoria competitions Div A or B). Details regarding those will be made available below.

Players secure a spot once they have registered and paid.

CHAMPIONE! CHAMPIONE!

Congratulations to our Men's Masters team for winning the Division 1 Over 35s League for the first time in 10+ years!
